Julio Cortés is a Colombian salsa pianist, arranger, composer, and vocalist who leads the ensemble Julio Cortés y Su Corte. Raised in Cali, Colombia, he was inspired to pursue a career in music by his father, the notable singer Tito Cortés. From an early age, he developed an interest in percussion instruments such as the congas, bongo, and timbal, eventually expanding his skills to become a bandleader and producer.
Cortés acts as the primary creative force behind Julio Cortés y Su Corte, directing the group's arrangements and compositions. After releasing early albums such as "3 Décadas" in 2017 and "Golpe Contundente" in 2018, the group issued a self-titled album, "Julio Cortes Y Su Corte," along with the single "Hasta El Día De Hoy" in 2020.
In the following years, the group continued to release new music, including the 2021 single "Traigo Mi Salsa." In 2022, they released the album "Lo Cortes No Me Quita Lo Bailao," continuing their output of traditional, danceable salsa.
