David Atanacio is a New York-born Puerto Rican singer, percussionist, and composer. Known as a "Sonero de Calle" (Street Sonero) specializing in the "Soneo del Guaguancó" style of vocal improvisation, he has spent nearly two decades based in Tampa, Florida, where he leads the Orquesta Champán D' Barrio. Beyond his musical and performance career, Atanacio also works as the host and producer of the weekly program "Salsa Cultura y Algo Mas!"
Atanacio's discography is defined by a steady stream of salsa brava singles, which began with "Lo Que Dice el Tambor" in 2019. In 2020, he issued the singles "Champan De Barrio" and "Mariandá Divino," which were followed by "Viva Rosario" and "Me Convertí en Su Fan" in 2021. In 2022, he released "El Sueño del Maestro Vive Gotas de Veneno."
In 2023, Atanacio collaborated with veteran salsa vocalist Herman Olivera on the single "De la Vieja Escuela," and released "Rumba Salsa Y Bembé" later that same year. His subsequent projects include "Epoca De Celebrar" in 2024 and "No Me Llores Más" in 2025.
