Rafael Ortiz y el Tumbao Urbano is a Latin music group established in 2012 in Washington, D.C. The ensemble performs a wide variety of tropical and folkloric genres, incorporating styles such as salsa, cumbia, boleros, and traditional Puerto Rican forms like bomba and plena.
The group's recorded repertoire focuses heavily on son cubano and timba. Their discography features several single releases, beginning with "Ponte Natural" in 2021, followed by "Madre" in 2022, and both "Ten Cuidao" and "Soneros De Siempre" in 2023. The latter release featured a collaboration with Pole Ortiz.
In 2025, the band released the single "Son Para Un Sonero," collaborating with vocalists and instrumentalists Pole Ortiz and Renesito Avich. The project continues to record and perform, uniting traditional Afro-Caribbean heritage with contemporary urban sensibilities.
