Yoel Soto Gonzalez is a Cuban bassist, guitarist, composer, and poet born in Havana on September 1, 1977. He comes from a musical family: his grandfather, Ramón Soto, sang with Septeto Habanero in the late 1940s, and his father, Ramón Soto, was a singer for the conjunto Arsenio Rodríguez. Soto began studying classical guitar at the age of 11 and later graduated from the Havana National Art School, where he studied electric bass.
After completing his studies, Soto moved to Italy, performing at jazz festivals such as Umbria, San Remo, and Sorrento. In 2003, he relocated to Athens, Greece. His music integrates elements of son cubano, timba, and the Greek entehno style.
Soto's discography includes the albums Waking Up, Eterna (2015), Con Pocas Palabras (2019), and Night in L' Habana (2020). He has also released multiple singles, including "Sto Vytho Tis Allis Aktis (En El Fondo De La Otra Orilla)" (2020), "A Orilla Del Rio (Apano Stin Triantafyllia)" (2021), "Llórame De Agua Un Río" (2021), "Besándote" (2023), "Whose Is That" (2023), "Más" (2024), and "Que Fallo" (2025).
