
Gigante Luis Colon is a Jersey City, New Jersey-born percussionist and bandleader who began playing the bongos in 1979. In 1994, he formed his own salsa band with the support of bassist Glen Vargas and trumpeter Juan "Tiny" Colon. Based in East Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania, Colon has focused on producing both English and Spanish-language salsa and mambo arrangements.
Throughout his recording career, Colon has collaborated with several vocalists, including Eddie Ray, Ralphy Vega, Nepy Maldonado, Tony Alicea, Danny Perez, and Javier Mendoza. His style often incorporates salsa transformations of classic soul and pop ballads.
Colon's discography includes singles such as "With You (Salsa)" and "De Ti Depende Salsa," released in 2019. In 2025, his output continued with singles like "She Left / Se Me Fue," "Together (salsa)," and "La La Means I Love You (Salsa)." Other notable works in his catalog include salsa arrangements of "Nothing's Gonna Change" and "Nada Cambiara."
