Pacheco y Su Timbal is a salsa ensemble founded in 2014 by timbalero and bandleader José Pacheco García. Born in Guaynabo, Puerto Rico, Pacheco's musical interest began during his childhood when a schoolteacher gifted him a drum, initiating a lifelong passion for percussion. He drew significant inspiration from the legendary timbalero Tito Puente.
The group incorporates salsa, Latin jazz, and bolero into their repertoire. Its performance lineup features three vocalists alongside a rhythm and horn section comprising bass, piano, congas, bongó, timbal, two trumpets, two trombones, and a baritone saxophone. The ensemble's recorded catalog began with their self-titled debut album, Pacheco y Su Timbal, in 2016.
In 2020, the group released El Vecino Timbalero, which featured collaborative vocals from Carlos 'Chiqui' Mojica, Ashley Clemente Vazquez, Victor Gabriel, Charlie Maldonado, and Jorge Muñiz. Pacheco y Su Timbal has also released several singles, including Traición (2020), Tengo El Alma Rota (2021), and the seasonal tracks Por Aquí y por Allá Gozando en la Navidad (2019) and Nadie Me para en la Navidad (2024).
