Conjunto Imagen was founded on May 21, 1989, based out of Staten Island, New York. Featuring singer and songwriter Ernie Acevedo, the Puerto Rican-style salsa group established itself as a presence in Afro-Caribbean music across the United States, Latin America, and the Caribbean.
The group launched its recording career in the early 1990s, issuing albums such as Mi Rumba in 1992 and Algo Nuevo in 1993. During this period, the group released several records on the JN and Platano labels. A notable early project includes the 1995 album Christmas with Imagen, which featured collaborations with musicians Yomo Toro and Jose Fajardo. In 2000, they released the joint album Frente a Frente: Dos Estrellas en Uno (Conjunto Imagen vs. Isla Caliente).
Conjunto Imagen continued its production into the 21st century with releases including Ayer, Hoy Y Manana (2004), Afinando (2009), and Los Intocables (2015). To mark their longevity, the band released their fourteenth album, 30th Anniversary, in 2021. Their subsequent releases include the singles Estamos en Salsa in 2023, Tu Precio in 2024, and the 2025 album Salsa in English.
