SonAhead is a musical project created by Cuban-born pianist, vocalist, composer, and arranger César Orozco. Orozco, who is of Cuban-Venezuelan background, spent 14 years developing his career in Venezuela before establishing the group.
The project's name represents its core musical concept: fusing traditional Cuban son with elements of modern jazz, electronic music, and 1990s Cuban timba. This blend represents Orozco's foundational musical influences, particularly timba, which shaped his artistic development since his teenage years. SonAhead's philosophy emphasizes the roots of salsa by honoring traditional variants of son, such as nengón, kiribá, and changüí, as showcased in their work "Mi Son Tiene Saoco".
In 2025, SonAhead released the single "Camaleón."
