Kandelo began his artistic training at the Julia de Burgos school under the direction of Miriam Colón, where he studied acting, singing, and guitar. He began his professional career as the lead vocalist for the group The Brooklyn Boyz, performing a mix of merengue and salsa. In 2000, he was named 'El Ángel de la Salsa' during the National Puerto Rican Day Parade in New York City.
Over his career, he has performed at numerous community festivals and events. In 2009, he was recognized as the Godfather of the Fort Myers Festival of Multicultural Integrity in Florida. He was later awarded the 'Too Much Award' in 2013 as an Outstanding Salsa Singer by journalist Johnny Too Much. Kandelo is based in Miami, where he continues to record and perform tropical music.
Kandelo's recent discography includes the 2021 single 'Mi Bandela a la Luna' and the 2023 release 'Se Detuvo el Amor'. In 2024, he released several singles, including 'Señora', 'Este Amor', 'Odiame', and a remix titled 'Mi Bandera a La Luna (Remix)'. He followed these releases with the single 'Sumba La Rumba' in 2025.
