Roberto Delgado & Orquesta is a Panamanian salsa orchestra based in Panama City, led by bassist, arranger, producer, and vocalist Roberto Delgado. Born on June 27, 1961, in David, Chiriquí, Delgado received his musical education at the Conservatorio de Música de Bellas Artes in Mexico City and Golden West College in Huntington Beach, California. Delgado's early career involved playing in several ensembles during the 1970s and 1980s, including Grupo Alma Joven, Orquesta Fantasía, and Orquesta de Pedro Azael.
The orchestra is widely recognized for its long-term partnership with singer-songwriter Rubén Blades. Since the release of Blades' 1996 album La Rosa de los Vientos, the ensemble has served as his primary backing band. This collaboration has earned Roberto Delgado & Orquesta and Rubén Blades 12 Grammy and Latin Grammy awards, participating in acclaimed productions such as Son de Panamá in 2015.
In addition to their work with Blades, the orchestra has released five studio albums of their own. Their recorded work also includes the 2021 single Caminando.
