Oscar Dudamel is a Venezuelan trombonist whose musical career spans both classical music and classical salsa. He began his formal musical training under Maestro Pablo Canela and later continued his studies within El Sistema, Venezuela's musical education program. Though trained as a classical musician and having performed with numerous orchestras, Dudamel's interest in salsa was sparked during his childhood upon hearing "La Murga" by Willie Colón.
Dudamel transitioned his passion into recording salsa music. In 2025, he released the singles "El Beso" and "La Rumba Me Llama," with the latter serving as a tribute to traditional classical salsa. These releases were followed by his 2025 album, "Sueño Alcanzado." Dudamel is also the father of a prominent symphony orchestra conductor.
