Afro 23, whose real name is Yulier Ernesto Bonet Perez, is a Cuban percussionist, pianist, and director specializing in salsa and timba music. He began his musical training in his youth, establishing a foundation in percussion and piano. During his early career, he performed as the timbalero for the Caisimu Orchestra and served as the musical director of the Salsa Candela Orchestra.
He emerged as a solo artist in 2023 with the release of his debut single, "Soy Afro 23." Active in the salsa scene with performances in Miami, he released a steady succession of singles between 2023 and 2026, including "Lo Que Se Comenta" (2023), "Que Le Den" (2024), "Ella Baila Bonito" (2025), "Te Gusta" (2025), and "Sin TÃ" (2025).
In 2026, he released his debut full-length album, also titled "Soy Afro 23." The ten-track project compiles his previously released singles alongside new material, including the tracks "A Bailar Salsa," "Dushi," and "Mama Wa' (The Blue Wave)."
