Jose Amador is a Latin jazz musician and bandleader based in San Antonio, Texas. He is the founder of the ensemble NATIAO Latin Jazz, which he established alongside musical director Richie Vega. The group's name is derived from a TaÃno word meaning "brotherhood." Within the organization, Amador serves as the manager and bandleader, taking responsibility for booking performances, recruiting musicians, and curating the repertoire. Under his leadership, the group performs at various regional venues, including Jazz, TX.
In addition to his performance career, Amador was a featured speaker at the 2017 TEDxSanAntonio event, where he presented on the history of mainstream Latin jazz and how diversity drives innovation in the genre. In 2024, he released the Latin jazz album Straight Ahead (Pa' Lante).
