Steven Brezet is a Dutch-born multi-percussionist, composer, and educator who blends Afro-Latin, Brazilian, and jazz traditions. Raised in the Netherlands, Brezet was introduced to African music at an early age through his mother's interest in African dance. After watching a performance by Senegalese master percussionist Aly Ndiaye Rose and Lucas van Merwijk in Rotterdam at the age of six, Brezet began studying djembe under Rose. He subsequently expanded his skill set to include sabar, congas, bongos, and timbales.
Now based in Europe as a performer and conservatory music educator, Brezet integrates diverse rhythmic styles across salsa, Latin jazz, afrobeat, and funk. In addition to his Latin music projects, he recorded a debut album blending afrobeat and funk at the Kytopia studio in Utrecht.
Brezet's recorded catalog as a leader began in 2016 with the single "Esta Es Mi Rumba", followed by "Gringo Barril" and "My Teachers" in 2017. He released the single "The Arrival" in 2018. In 2022, he issued the single "El Nuevo Sabor" and the album "World Traveler". His later releases include the 2025 single "Familia Brasileira" and the 2025 album "Diferenciado".
