Tamela Janaira Hedström Ruiz, known professionally as Tamela Hedström, is a Costa Rican singer-songwriter of Swedish origin who was born in Uppsala, Sweden, on August 23, 1981. Performing in genres spanning Latin pop and multilingual soul, she established her recording career with her 2005 EP "Mezcla." She followed with her self-titled album "Tamela" in 2011, and the 2014 singles "Yo Lloré" and "Ni un Paso Atrás!"
Hedström has achieved notable recognition within the Latin music industry, earning a nomination at the Latin Grammy Awards. In August 2016, she performed onstage in Costa Rica as a duet partner with salsa singer Gilberto Santa Rosa. Later that year, she released new material co-written with Noel Schajris of the pop duo Sin Bandera. In 2017, she released the single "Hoy solo estás tú" in both solo and collaborative versions with Sinego.
She has continued to release music steadily into the 2020s. In 2025, Hedström issued several new singles, including "Agua Salada," "Última triste canción de amor," "Last Sad Love Song," and "Revived."
