Henry Benavides is a Colombian pianist, composer, arranger, and producer of tropical music and salsa. Born in Barrancabermeja, Santander, Colombia, Benavides later relocated to Miami, Florida, to continue his musical career. His work primarily spans the salsa and latin jazz genres, showcasing his skills as both an instrumentalist and director.
His early discography includes the 2015 concept albums "Música para Despertar los Sentidos - Piano Salsero" and "Música para Despertar los Sentidos - La Zampoña". He followed these instrumental and jazz-inflected releases with salsa singles, including "Perdoname" in 2018 and "Ya no me quieres" in 2019.
In 2023, Benavides released "Por Cuenta Propia," a project in which he served as arranger, pianist, and producer. This release pays homage to classic salsa tracks, updating historical numbers like "Cita A Las..." with modern arrangements.
