Elito Revé y su Charangón is a Cuban timba, salsa, and changüí band based in Havana, Cuba. The orchestra was originally founded in 1956 under the name Orquesta Revé by percussionist Elio Revé Matos. Born in Guantánamo in 1930, Revé Matos was an accomplished timbalero who relocated to Havana in the mid-1950s. The group earned widespread acclaim in Cuba and internationally, establishing itself as a foundational institution in popular Cuban dance music.
Following the passing of Elio Revé Matos, leadership of the ensemble was assumed in 1997 by his son, Elito Revé (also known as Elio Revé Jr.), who renamed the group Elito Revé y su Charangón. Under his direction, the band preserved its traditional brass and percussion-heavy instrumentation while integrating elements of contemporary timba and salsa.
The group has continued to release prominent works, including albums such as Yo Me Muero en la Habana and ¡Uea! in 2019, and Evolution 6.5 in 2022. Their active catalog also features several notable contemporary singles, including "Cuba Baila Casino (Tributo a la Rueda)" (2019), "El Cosquilleo" (2021), "Son Mi Barrunto" (2023), and "Muy Grande Pa’ Tu Edad" (2025).
