Fernando Cancel Marín is a Puerto Rican salsa singer born in Santurce and raised in the municipality of Bayamón, Puerto Rico. Known within the genre by monikers such as "the poet of salsa" (el poeta de la salsa) and "the romantic voice of salsa," Cancel developed his musical foundation in Bayamón. His artistic development was guided and influenced by prominent figures in the genre, including Ismael Rivera, Marvin Santiago, and Gilberto Santa Rosa.
Cancel began releasing music under his own name in 2019, debuting with a series of romantic salsa singles including "Niña", "Entre Sábanas", "Te Amo Tanto", "Que Lastima", and "Lo Mejor De Mi". He continued this output into the early 2020s with the singles "A Pesar De Todo" in 2021, followed by "Tanto Nos Amamos" and "Otra Como Tú" in 2022.
In the subsequent years, Cancel expanded his discography with "Si Tú No Estas Aquí" in 2023, and the 2025 singles "Perdón" and "En Ésta No". In 2026, he released the album "Quédate", continuing his active presence in the contemporary salsa scene.
