
Alexis Baro is a Cuban-Canadian trumpet player, composer, and educator. Born into a musical family in Havana, Cuba, Baro began playing the trumpet at the age of eight. He underwent classical training at the Amadeo Roldán Music Conservatory in Havana, where he completed his musical education and received a teaching certification. He later relocated to Toronto, Canada, where he has resided for several decades.
As a solo artist, Baro is recognized for his work in jazz and big band music. He was nominated for Jazz Album of the Year, Solo at the 2019 Juno Awards. His established repertoire includes his sixth solo album, 'Mi RaÃz / La Trompeta Cubana y Su Tradición', which focuses on traditional Cuban trumpet performance.
His recent big band releases include the 2022 album 'Mi Raiz', as well as the 2025 single 'Echa Pa'Cá' and the 2025 catalog album 'Afrokando'.
