Michel Batista, widely known by his stage name Michel El Buenon, is a prominent salsa and merengue vocalist from Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. Born in Batey 7, Batista began developing his musical abilities during childhood by singing in evangelical church choirs and entering various local music contests. He eventually rose to become one of the most recognized salsa singers of his country, embarking on international tours and building a substantial global following.
Throughout his career, which spans in catalog from 1995 through 2026, Michel El Buenon has collaborated with Dominican musicians such as Wilbert Taveras.
