Timbalive is a Miami-based Cuban music and timba group established in August 2008 by bandleader and timbalero Leo Garcia. Seeking to popularize the contemporary Cuban salsa derivative known as timba within the United States, Garcia formed the group with highly trained musicians who had studied at various music academies in Cuba.
The members of the ensemble possess extensive background in the Latin music industry, having previously performed and recorded with prominent artists such as Celia Cruz, Marc Anthony, Willy Chirino, Albita Rodriguez, and Luis Enrique. Timbalive's sound blends modern timba with global rhythms, making them one of the preeminent US-based groups in the genre.
Over their career, Timbalive has collaborated with notable Cuban vocalists and instrumentalists, including Issac Delgado, Manolin "El Medico de la Salsa", Pedrito Calvo, Mayito Rivera, and Alexander Abreu. Following their debut, the band released their sophomore album, "La timba pa' to' el mundo," in 2012. The group has continued to produce new music, including the 2026 single "Yo Te Sigo."
