
Yulien Oviedo Sánchez is a Cuban singer, songwriter, and percussionist born on November 29, 1982, in Havana. Raised in a musical household, he is the son of Cuban musician Calixto Oviedo, who introduced him to the craft at an early age. He pursued formal training in percussion at the Manuel Saumell Conservatory and completed his studies at the National School of Art (ENA) in Havana.
Throughout his career, Oviedo has performed alongside prominent figures and ensembles, including Chucho Valdés, Frank Fernández, Gilberto Santa Rosa, and Charanga Habanera. He has been a member of groups such as Aché Junior, Los Chicos de la Salsa, PG, and Química Perfecta. Additionally, he has contributed to recorded productions for the Afro Cuban All Stars, Buena Vista Social Club, La recompensa, and Gracias Formell. His solo catalog features popular tracks like "Ahora Vete" and "Soy como Snapchat."
In his recorded catalog spanning 2009 to 2026, Oviedo is primarily known for his work in the timba genre. His recent single releases include "USA," "EL MEJOR DEL MUNDO," "NEW FACE," "AY MAMI," "MIAMI," "XXX," "EN LA MIA," and "Los Verdaderos Og" in 2024. He followed these with "MORENA," "LBMA," "TU VERÁS (Remaster)," and "Contigo" in 2025, and "Tóxico" in 2026.
