Pablo Alfonso Fernández Gallo, widely known as Paulo FG (or Paulito FG), was born on January 11, 1962, and passed away on March 1, 2025. Born in Cuba and raised in Havana, he became recognized as a key innovator and performer of timba, salsa, and son cubano. His early professional career included singing with established Cuban acts such as Adalberto Álvarez and Dan Den, before joining the band Opus 13, led by Joaquín Betancourt. He also provided backing vocals on the debut album of NG La Banda alongside Issac Delgado.
After forming his own band, La Élite, Paulo FG established himself as a prominent figure in the Cuban music scene, often blending traditional son cubano with modern influences such as rock, jazz, rumba, rap, and reggaeton. He released several notable projects throughout his career, including "Ilusión" (2005) and "Un Poquito de Tó" (2006), the latter of which achieved significant airplay and television ratings in Cuba.
In his later years, Paulo FG continued to release music, cementing his legacy with compilations like "20 Años en la Élite (Remasterizado 2016)" and the albums "Dos Gardenias" (2015) and "Brindando" (2019). His final works included the album "Transición" and the single "TU VERÁS (Remaster)," both released in 2025.
