Leonardo Torres Álvarez, known professionally as Leoni Torres, is a Cuban singer, composer, and music producer born on November 24, 1977. Early in his career, Torres rose to prominence as a vocalist for the famous salsa band led by David Calzado. He eventually departed the group to pursue a solo career, establishing his own record label, Torres Productions. His musical style primarily incorporates salsa, timba, son cubano, and bachata.
As a solo artist, Torres has recorded multiple albums. His second solo effort, Latiendo, was followed in 2012 by Salseando, a project consisting of salsa versions of his earlier tracks. In addition to performing, Torres has worked significantly as a songwriter, composing tracks such as "Traidora." His songwriting has earned recognition from the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP), and he has been a member of the Latin Recording Academy since 2018. Throughout his career, Torres has collaborated with musical figures including Gilberto Santa Rosa, Willy Chirino, Rosario Flores, Pablo Milanés, Carlos Varela, Cimafunk, Francisco Céspedes, and El Micha.
Torres has maintained an active recording schedule into the mid-2020s. His recent releases include the 2024 album La Salsa No Engorda and the single "Todo El Mundo Bailando." His output has continued with a series of singles spanning 2025 and 2026, including "Encontrarnos Otra Vez," "Agua Salada," "3/4 de mi alma," and "Nadie como tú."
