Josseline Kate Higa Candela, known professionally as Kate Candela, was born on August 30, 1991, in San Miguel, Peru. She first rose to prominence as a lead vocalist for the popular all-female Peruvian salsa group Son Tentación, where she gained significant experience within the country's active tropical music scene.
After leaving the orchestra to pursue a solo career, Candela established herself as a solo artist focusing on salsa, timba, and fusion. She celebrated three years of her solo project with the release of the live album "3er Aniversario (En Vivo)" in 2022.
Her solo catalog is defined by a consistent output of singles and medleys, often blending salsa with other genres. Key releases include her 2025 vallenato and cumbia adaptations, such as "Mix Cumbia Vallenata: Me Dejaste Sin Nada/ Obsesión/ Tarde Lo Conocí" and "Tarde Lo Conocí", as well as her 2026 single "Amiga Mia". Other notable releases from this period include "Mix Que Bonito/Ay Amor", "Amor de Tres", and "Te Lo Pido por Favor Yapeame".
