
Juan Guillermo Almeida, popularly known as JG, is a Cuban singer and bandleader born in Havana in 1986. Before dedicating himself to music, he studied sailing at the Marcelo Salado sports school and completed a law degree. He began his artistic career performing with the Cuban group Gente de Zona. In December 2009, he established his own orchestra, playing their debut concert at the La Macumba club in Havana after recording his first three demo tracks. His musical style heavily incorporates timba, salsa, and son cubano.
Since forming his group, Juan Guillermo has released a steady stream of recordings. His 2021 album, Llevo la Música en el Alma, was produced by Carlos Gaitán, recorded at Estudios Siboney in Santiago de Cuba, and released under the EGREM label. In addition to albums like Cosa De Locos (2021) and Me Acostumbré a Estar Sin Ti (2023), his catalog includes singles such as Como Tú (2022), Mi Congo (2024), Cerveza (2025), and Carola (2026). He also regularly performs at major Cuban events, including the Festival de la Salsa in Havana.
