Brian Lynch (born September 12, 1956) is an American jazz trumpeter known for his work in both hard bop and Latin jazz. He began his professional career playing in a group with Charles McPherson from 1980 to 1981, and subsequently performed with prominent jazz artists such as Horace Silver, Toshiko Akiyoshi, and Art Blakey. Lynch also became a key collaborator in the salsa and Afro-Caribbean music scenes, working with vocalist Héctor Lavoe and pianist Eddie Palmieri.
Lynch's association with Eddie Palmieri has spanned over twenty-five years. He served as a member of Palmieri's Afro-Caribbean Jazz group and was featured on the 1994 album Palmas, a release that combined a frontline of jazz musicians with an Afro-Latin rhythm section. In addition to his work with Palmieri, Lynch has co-led the 'Latin Side of Miles' project alongside trombonist Conrad Herwig.
As a bandleader, Lynch has released a variety of albums documenting his acoustic jazz and Latin jazz concepts. His catalog includes works such as 'The Latin Side Of Wayne Shorter' (2008), 'Unsung Heroes Vol. 1' (2011), 'Unsung Heroes Vol. 2' (2013), and 'Madera Latino: A Latin Jazz Interpretation on the Music of Woody Shaw' (2016). His recent output includes the multi-release 'Songbook Vol. 1: Bus Stop Serenade' (2021), 'Songbook, Vol. 2: Dance the Way U Want To' (2022), the single 'In the Riv' (2024), and the album '7x7by7' (2024).
