Luisito Ayala y La Puerto Rican Power is a Puerto Rican salsa orchestra originally formed in the early 1970s by bassist Jesús "Chuy" Castro. In its initial years, the group served primarily as an accompanying ensemble for various salsa artists. In 1973, after Castro decided to leave the music profession to pursue a career as a physician, trumpet player Luisito Ayala assumed leadership of the band. The orchestra's lineup was bolstered in 1983 when singer Tito Rojas joined the group as lead vocalist.
Over several decades, the orchestra has maintained a presence in the tropical music scene, blending salsa and merengue rhythms. Key milestones include the album "Salsa of the Caribbean" and the 2009 anniversary production "Luisito Ayala y La Puerto Rican Power…¡30 años de Power!" which marked three decades of Ayala's leadership of the group.
In recent years, the orchestra has continued to release recordings, including singles like "Cajita de Sorpresa" (2020), "Si Yo Te Adoro (homenaje en vivo)" (2021), and "Yo No Soy Un Papi" (2024). Their full-length albums during this period include "Y Te Lo Dice… (Remastered)" (2022), "Canta Tito Rojas (Remastered)" (2024), and "Back to the Salsa" (2025).
