Robert Burgos is a Puerto Rican trombonist, singer, and bandleader born in Arroyo, Puerto Rico. Later establishing himself in Salinas, Puerto Rico, Burgos built a career as both a vocalist and brass musician. In his early career, he performed with ensembles such as La Pochi, the Arroyo All Stars, and Cándido Reyes' group, 40 y 20.
Burgos is the leader and director of his own orchestra, Robert Burgos & Descarga Zasón (also referred to as Descarga Sazón). Under his direction, the group has shared the stage with legendary salsa figures and orchestras, including Bobby Valentín, Roberto Roena, La Sonora Ponceña, Mulenze, and Don Perignon. His performances have taken him to stages across Puerto Rico, including the Puerto Rico Salsa Weekend at the Caribe Hilton, as well as venues in New York and other parts of the Caribbean.
As a recording artist, Burgos works within the salsa, timba, and mambo genres. His self-led releases began in 2019 with the singles "Arroyando" and "Mi Propuesta". He followed these with "El Pelao" in 2021, "Otra Cosa" in 2023, "Muchacho Buscón" and "Tres Dias" in 2024, and "Añejo" in 2026.
