Johnny Rivera is an American salsa singer of Puerto Rican descent, born on February 4, 1962, in the South Bronx, New York. After graduating from Benjamin Franklin High School, Rivera briefly relocated to Puerto Rico, where he began singing with a local band. He eventually returned to New York to pursue a professional career in Latin music. Inspired by his uncle, the vocalist Adalberto Santiago, Rivera sought to further his musical development. To improve his vocal technique and knowledge of the salsa sound, he joined the experimental workshop for Johnny Colón's orchestra at the East Harlem school of music.
Rivera's catalog of releases spans from 1990 to 2025. Over his decades-long career, he has consistently released material within the romantic salsa tradition. His output in the early 2020s includes the singles "Vengo" (2019), "Dame Un Minuto Más De TÃ" (2020), and "HacÃa Falta" (2021), alongside the studio album "Romántico y Algo Más" (2020).
Rivera has remained active with frequent new releases. In 2024, he published the singles "Final Feliz" and "Just The Way You Are." He followed these in 2025 with the singles "Se Me Fue La Mano" and "Son Para Ustedes," as well as the albums "Esenciales" and "Live From New York."
