Albita Rodríguez, born Alba Mirna Rodríguez Herrera on June 6, 1962, in Havana, Cuba, is a Grammy-winning singer, songwriter, actress, and producer. Raised by her parents, Martín Rodríguez and Minerva Herrera—well-known Cuban country music singers who performed as Martín y Minerva—she was exposed to traditional Cuban music from an early age. She built her career as a versatile interpreter of son cubano, salsa, and timba.
Albita eventually achieved international prominence, touring the United States, Spain, Panama, Mexico, Colombia, Venezuela, and Puerto Rico. She also performed at the North Sea Jazz Festival in Holland and shared billings with Brazilian artist Gilberto Gil and salsa icon Oscar D'León.
Active in the recording catalog since 1995, her discography includes the 2018 album "Cantare y Todos Sus Exitos", the 2019 album "Acústica", and the live album "Por Amor a Mi Tierra (En Vivo)" in 2023. She has also released numerous singles, including "Perdón", "Madrecita", "Oshun", "El Palito", and "Que Manera De Quererte". Her more recent projects include the 2025 singles "Amanecer Sin Ti" and "Cántale a la Vida", the 2025 album "Masters Of Our Roots", and the 2026 album "Guajiros de Verdad (El Reencuentro)".
