Álvaro Lenier Mesa, known professionally as Lenier, is a Cuban singer and songwriter born in Güines, Cuba. At the age of 15, Mesa immigrated to Miami, Florida, with his father. For several years, he performed traditional Cuban peasant music (música campesina) and appeared on the television program Clave Guajira before transitioning into urban and tropical genres, including salsa and bachata.
Lenier initially gained recognition working alongside Jacob Forever, composing tracks like "La Protagonista" (later recorded by Jacob Forever and Víctor Manuelle) and "Que Nochecita" before embarking on his solo career. His achievements include the hit single "Me Quedaré Contigo," which reached the Billboard charts, and "Como Te Pago." He has collaborated with international artists such as Pitbull and American rapper 6ix9ine, contributing to three songs on the latter's 2023 album, Leyenda Viva.
At the 2022 Latin Grammy Awards, Lenier was recognized in the Best Tropical Song category for "Mala," a collaboration with Marc Anthony. In his active recording career, which spans from 2018 to 2025, he has released numerous singles, including "Habla Toro," "El Barrio," "Tonto," "Me Gusta," and "Rubia Mia."
