Yuniel Jimenez, also known as "El Poeta" or "El Guajiro," is a Cuban tresero, composer, arranger, and sonero. Originally from Santa Clara, Cuba, he eventually relocated to New York. Jimenez is known for his work on the Cuban tres guitar, leading an ensemble that blends traditional son cubano with elements of timba, salsa, mambo, cha-cha-cha, bolero, changüí, and nueva trova.
Jimenez began his recorded output in 2012 with the release of his debut album, "Un Guajiro En Nueva York." This was followed in 2015 by his sophomore album, "Hay Gente pa' To'." In 2024, he released his third album, "La Verdad de la Vida," which explores the dialogue between traditional son, Nueva Trova, bolero, and changüí. Jimenez and his band have performed at prominent live music venues, including SOB's in New York.
