José Madera Niño is a Colombian-Venezuelan percussionist, composer, and visual artist. Born in Cartagena, Colombia, he relocated to Venezuela at one year of age and grew up in several Caracas neighborhoods, including San José, La Pastora, La Vega, and Catia. Raised in a musical household as one of six siblings, Madera Niño is a self-taught musician who performed with various groups before founding his own orchestra, José Madera Niño & 3er Mundo.
His musical style spans salsa, timba, and son cubano. In 2020, he released the single "Me Gustas, Pero..." featuring guest singer Memo Arroyave. This track was part of the rollout for his production "Matices", which was fully released in 2024. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Madera Niño continued producing music, releasing singles such as "Lo Que Corre por Mis Venas", "Gofio", "Nos Toca Decidir", and "Dime por Qué". His music releases often overlap with his background as a painter, utilizing his artwork in his promotional videos.
His later work includes the 2022 singles "Su Aroma" and "Un Tipo Liberado" (written by Rosa Soy), the latter of which received a remastered release in 2024. Madera Niño continued his musical output into the mid-2020s with the singles "Se Cansó" and "Felices Horas" in 2023, followed by "Que Sean Ellos" in 2025.
