
Carlos Ariel Peralta Mendoza, known professionally as Maffio, is a Dominican producer, composer, songwriter, and artist born on January 24, 1986, in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. Raised in Santo Domingo, he taught himself to play the piano at six years old. He secured his first major professional breakthrough at age 20, producing the song Mi alma se muere for Fuego, Pitbull, and Omega. He is recognized for his work across urban and tropical genres, and is noted for pioneering the sound of merengue electrónico.
Maffio established his own recording and production studio, ReHab, in Miami, Florida. In 2015, Miami Mayor Tomás Regalado presented him with the keys to the city of Miami. Maffio operated as an independent artist for much of his early career before signing a record deal with Sony Music Entertainment in 2019.
His catalog highlights his work in the dembow genre, with active releases spanning from 2012 to 2025. In 2024, his single releases included Rizz, Gua Gua, Fiesta En La Ciudad featuring KRZ and Diana Landa, and Prometo Olvidarte (Maffio Mix) featuring Arturo Sandoval. In 2025, Maffio released the album R.D.L.D., alongside several singles including Talentosa, Himno Vaquero, Nosotros, KoKa Kola, and Ritmo del Negro in collaboration with Afro Bros.
