Brenda Navarrete, born in Havana, Cuba, in 1991, is a singer, percussionist, songwriter, and dancer specializing in Afro-Cuban rhythms, timba, and Latin jazz. Raised in Havana, she began studying music at a young age and graduated from the Amadeo Roldán Conservatory in 2009. Navarrete gained early professional experience collaborating with prominent Cuban ensembles and projects, including the community folkloric group Alafia, Interactivo, and the all-female percussion group Obinà Batá, where she distinguished herself as one of the notable female instrumentalists to master the sacred batá drums.
Navarrete launched her solo recording career with the release of her debut album, "Mi Mundo", in 2017. Her musical style integrates traditional Afro-Cuban folklore with contemporary jazz and timba, drawing influence from classic vocalists such as Sarah Vaughan and Ella Fitzgerald. Following her debut album, she released the single "Aunque Sea Un Ratico" in 2021.
In 2024 and 2025, Navarrete expanded her discography with a series of singles, including "Oya," "Iyalodde," "Siempre Si (Stickybuds Remix)," "Mourir de Joie," and "Atùnwà ." In addition to her recording and performing schedule, she works as an educator, hosting workshops on Cuban percussion and culture.
