Andy Rubal is a Cuban-Canadian singer, pianist, and composer who performs salsa, timba, and son cubano. Born in Santiago de Cuba and later based in Montreal, Canada, Rubal began his musical career at the age of six as a singer with the children's group Baby Salsa. He later pursued classical piano training and earned a degree in composition from the Instituto Superior de Arte de La Habana in 2013. Early in his professional career, he worked as an accompanist for performers such as Cuban singer Waldo Mendoza.
In 2016, Rubal released his debut album, "El que Busca Encuentra," on the Cuban record label EGREM. The release earned him a nomination for Best Salsa Album by a New Artist at the 2017 Cuba Disco Awards. After establishing himself in Montreal, he continued writing and releasing music under his own name. His releases during this period include "Estoy Casado" (2021), "El Pilón de Amélie" (2021), "Moi ton roi" (2022), and "Cantarle un Son" (2024).
In 2026, Rubal released his second full-length album, "BAILA Y CONFĂA." The project earned him a nomination for Latin Music Recording of the Year at the 2026 JUNO Awards, highlighting his signature sound that blends traditional Cuban son and salsa with jazz and pop elements.
