Wilfredo "Willito" Otero Matos was born on April 20, 1984, in Naranjito, Puerto Rico. The son of Carmen D. Matos Cotto and Wilfredo Otero Santiago, a professional carpenter and self-taught musician, Otero grew up surrounded by music. He developed his musical skills as a trovador and improviser, learning to play multiple instruments while focusing his vocal talents on the salsa genre.
Otero established himself in the Puerto Rican salsa landscape through notable live performances. He participated in the 2020 DÃa Nacional de la Salsa at the Hiram Bithorn Stadium, performing a sonero duel with Kayvan Vega. Additionally, he recorded a live session at the Nuyorrican Café alongside musicians Herman Oliveras and Francisco Rosado "Pirulo," accompanied by Juanra Fernández's Combo Rican.
His recording career includes the release of several singles such as "Borinquen Te Quiero" (2017), "Tiembla Mi Isla" (2020), and "El Amor De Tu Vida" (2023). In 2024, Otero released the album "4/20" alongside singles like "Rumba W" and "Al K-Rajo," followed by the single "No Quiero, No Puedo" in 2025.
