JessMa, also known as "La Jeva de la Salsa," is a Puerto Rican singer and songwriter who blends classic salsa with modern Latin soul and urban styles. Born in Humacao, Puerto Rico, and raised in New York, she developed an interest in music at an early age. Inspired by legendary female tropical artists like Yolanda Rivera and Celia Cruz, she began her career performing backing vocals and participating in various salsa and merengue groups.
In 2023, JessMa made her official solo debut with the single "Fantasma (Salsa Urban Version)," released under the Héroes Music label. The track, an adaptation of a song originally popularized by urban artist Zion of the duo Zion & Lennox, established her signature fusion of salsa with modern urban rhythms.
Following her debut, JessMa continued to record within the salsa and timba genres. Her subsequent releases include the singles "Yo Soy JessMa" in 2024 and "Vivir Por Amor" in 2025.
