Eva Ayllón

Eva María Angélica Ayllón Urbina, born February 7, 1956, is one of Peru's most prominent singers and composers, recognized as a leading exponent of Afro-Peruvian music and música criolla. She adopted the stage name "Eva" from her maternal grandmother, who began teaching her to sing at the age of three. As a youth, she began performing in singing competitions and appearing on Peruvian television and radio. Her musical style integrates traditional genres such as Latin folklore, bolero, and huayno, with a repertoire that ranges from Peruvian coastal valses to Afro-Peruvian rhythms like landó, festejo, and alcatraz.

Ayllón has maintained an active recording and performing career since at least 1981. In 2019, she was honored with the Latin Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award by the Latin Recording Academy, reflecting her decades of work in preserving and promoting Peruvian musical traditions.

Her extensive discography features numerous live and studio recordings. Some of her recent projects include "Eva Ayllón: 50 Años Cantándole al Perú" (2024), "Criollo Sinfónico En Concierto (Live)" (2024), and the albums "Quimba Fá" and "Concierto De Gala (Gran Teatro Nacional) (Versión Eva) [Live]", both released in 2025.
