Carlos Ramírez is a singer, composer, and bass player who was born in Colombia and raised in Puerto Rico. He spent decades working as a bassist in the San Francisco Bay Area, performing in the rhythm sections of several of the region's Latin bands.
Ramírez eventually transitioned to performing as a lead vocalist, adopting a style inspired by 1970s salsa and classic sonero improvisations. He partnered with Puerto Rican pianist and producer Israel "Izzy" Tanenbaum to record his solo material. Released through Latinbaum Records, this collaboration debuted in 2020 with the single "Dedo de Guante (Cover)".
His recording career continued with the release of the singles "Corazón" and "Soy Como Papa" in 2021, followed by "Como En Los Viejos Tiempos" and "Debut Y Despedida" in 2024. In 2026, Ramírez released the single "Encrucijada" and the album "Salsa... Como En Los Viejos Tiempos".
