Manuel Gómez Ramos, professionally known as El Propio, is a salsa singer originally from Carolina, Puerto Rico. His musical development began to take shape around 2008 with his involvement in the project "Más Salsa Q Tu," collaborating with artists Pirulo and El Mola. Drawing from a diverse array of influences, including salsa, rap, reggaeton, and merengue, he developed a style that blends traditional salsa gorda with contemporary urban elements.
El Propio is the first artist signed to Salsa White Lion, a salsa-focused imprint established by veteran music executive Elías De León of White Lion. Under this label, he released the single "Híbrida" in 2024. Produced by Jay Lugo, the track highlighted his musical approach of pairing classic salsa song structures with modern lyrical themes.
Between 2024 and 2026, El Propio released a series of singles that solidified his presence in the salsa and timba genres. His catalog includes tracks such as "Uju Ajá," "Que Lindos," "Portarnos Mal," "Disculpa," and "Zin Ga," which seek to bridge old-school salsa sensibilities with modern production styles.
