Milagros del Rosario Quezada Borbón, known professionally as Milly Quezada, was born on May 21, 1955, in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. Raised in a musical family, she moved with her relatives to New York City in 1965. In 1975, Quezada and her siblings, including her sister Jocelyn and brother Rafael, formed the group Milly, Jocelyn & Los Vecinos. The group specialized in merengue while also incorporating elements of salsa and bolero into their music.
Widely referred to as the Queen of Merengue, Quezada is a pioneering Dominican-American singer who helped define modern tropical music. Her career achievements include winning four Latin Grammy Awards and maintaining a prominent position in the Latin music industry for several decades.
Quezada's recording catalog spans from 1981 through 2025. Her late-career releases include the 2022 single Un Amor Desechable, which she re-released in a salsa version in 2024, as well as the 2023 album Bachata Collection and the 2024 single Hasta que Amanezca. In 2025, she put out the album Live, Vol. 1 (Desde El Teatro Nacional de República Dominicana) and the live single Solo Contigo (En Vivo).
