Norberto "Norbert" Vélez is a Puerto Rican singer, songwriter, and producer born on August 20, 1979, in Río Piedras, Puerto Rico, and raised in Hatillo. Born into a musical family, his first teacher was his father, a professor at the Escuela Libre de Música. Vélez began his professional path at age 16 when he joined the Orquesta Trompeta con Trovadores, led by Elías López. Early in his career, he worked as a background vocalist for established salsa performers including Charlie Cruz, Frankie Negrón, and Pedro Brull. He later gained widespread recognition as a member of the salsa duo NG2, a group in which he performed for over 16 years.
In 2019, Vélez launched "Sesiones desde La Loma," a collaborative multimedia project and video series hosted on YouTube and social media platforms that showcases musical talents across different genres in an intimate setting. Alongside his production work, he has maintained an active solo career focused on salsa and timba.
His solo discography includes a series of singles and albums released since 2019. Between 2023 and 2024, his output included tracks such as "VEN Y TIRATE", "Mi Pueblo", "EN OTRA VIDA", "Leila", and "ASTRONAUTA". In 2025, his releases continued with the singles "Y Si Mañana" and "A Mi Manera", as well as the album "Yo A Su Estilo".
